A video of a Harrison M300 lathe fitted with the Anilam Crusader 2L controller. Manufactured in 1985 it still works very well and makes parts to tolerance without any difficulties. The Crusader controller like all Anilam controllers was very advanced for its time and is easy to programme. 60 lines of code produced this part with only using the G84 canned cycle for the thread cutting.

Yep, CAV’s out of the question without a new controller and a VFD on the spindle.

The basic M300 is a very robust and long lasting machine. You just have to look at the resale prices of used M300’s which far exceed new foreign equivalents. As to the Anilam controller it is early 1980’s technology so how can you expect it to be comparable to anything today? However, it still does its job. Yesterday, it made some, Left Hand, 2 start, 6 TPI, acme thread nuts. Programming time - less than 10 minutes. It is out of place in today’s machine shop, but it is not a’Truly awful machine’

LOL, it takes about 2 days to set itself ready to take a thread cutting pass. What a truly awful machine. Reminds me of my old colchester 2000cnc machine back in the day. Still have their uses though i suppose, not exactly a China beater though….
