But hey, I do have to give credit where credit is due, I like that it is an MDF cnc mill and you managed to cut that AL plate, they do say that AL is the poor man’s oak. All in all very nice. I wonder…can you help me with mine?

Very true, it took …
Very true, it took quite a while. Cutting the part was more of a learning experience and a proof of capability. This was my first time cutting thick aluminum and I wasn’t sure what to expect. A trained machinist could probably have picked a better feed/speed.

I know what type of motor, cutter, and metal your cutting…and you must be using steper motors to drive your slides because as cool as this video is, the machining is just to slow.

what metal did you …
what metal did you mill your plate out of?
where did you buy your cutting tools form and
what size and tip shape was it.
looks stable for a home made machine.

I ran it at 10ipm …
I ran it at 10ipm and 0.02 per pass. This was my first time cutting thick plate, so I was a bit cautious. I probably could have run it faster. The whole plate took about 90 mins.
